The Challenge
Building a scalable QR-based ordering and reservation system that could handle peak restaurant traffic while also reliably driving Bluetooth thermal printers from a mobile app — hardware that was notorious for pairing instability.
The Solution
Designed a dedicated Bluetooth printer abstraction layer with retry logic and connection-state machines in Kotlin. The QR ordering engine used Socket.IO for instant order broadcast and XStax for PCI-compliant payment processing.
